1. How
do you choose books and documents for the Armenian Library?
We publish fiction and nonfiction by Armenian authors. Also we
publish works by non-Armenian authors that somehow relate to Armenia
and Armenians. The young writers and poets are very welcome to publish
their works in Literary
Cafe.
2. You don't have [you name the book] by [you name the author].
How come?
We are in a constant process of adding new works. Nonetheless we
simply cannot publish all the Armenian literary heritage at one
stroke of a magic wand or throwing some sort of spell. If you want
to see works of a particular author in our library please write
about that in our Forum. If possible we will try to publish those
books first. On the other hand, there is no need to wait: you can
scan the book yourself and send it to us. Also, you may order scanning
and digitalizing of your favorite book. It will cost you $100-200
depending on the size of the book. Of course those books are published
promptly. Also your name will be added to the list of sponsors of
our project and also on the page of the book itself.
3. This is an Armenian Library. Why are there so few books in
Armenian?
ArmenianHouse.org project was started as "Library of Armenian
Literature in Russian" and the first year everything published
in the library was in Russian only. We started working on the Armenian
section only from December, 2002. Also digitizing Armenian texts
is much more time consuming because FineReader — the only
program that does support Armenian letters recognition — does
not perform morphological analysis of Armenian text during the recognition
and that adds work on the human side. Now the Armenian section is
top priority for us, so we hope you will be able to see more texts
in Armenian in near future.
4. What is Literary Cafe?
Check the FAQ
page at Literary Cafe.
5. How can I help the Armenian Library?
We do really need support and it will be greatly appreciated. Please
check which of the following is applicable to you:
- "I have interesting/rare books that I think should be published
in the Library."
- "I can scan and/or digitalize (OCR) books."
- "I've got lots of free time, equipment and books and could
do anything for ArmenianHouse.org." :)
- "I can translate from Armenian/Russian/English to Armenian/Russian/English."
- "I can provide financial help for your Library."
... then contact
us.
If none of the above rings a bell for you but you still feel like
doing something good tonight then there are hundreds of other means
to help us: visit our library more often, take part in discussions
at our forums, tell you friends about our site if you think they
will be interested. If you saw a typo, send
a message with the address of the page and the whole sentence
containing the error. That helps a lot. |
